Local Candle Maker & Artist Taps Into Creative Talent to Feed and Benefit Homeless
(PITTSBURGH) — Pittsburgh resident and candle maker Jenni Ingram is doing what she can to help her community get through the Covid-19 Pandemic and serve those who need it most.
“I’ve been feeling like I wanted to do something to help. And while staying at home is helpful, I’m more of an action gal,” said Ingram, who is the founder of Pittsburgh Candle Works and also a diy blogger, furniture painter and YouTube influencer for Roots & Wings Furniture.
In the true nature of her DIY spirit and creativity, she jumped into action by creating a new scented soy candle as a fundraiser to bring in money for the Light of Life Rescue Mission in Pittsburgh.
Ingram has always supported the mission, but with this new candle 100% of the proceeds will go back to the Christian nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides life-changing recovery programs, food and shelter for Pittsburgh’s poor and homeless.
“We’ve seen a significant increase in the need for meals at the Mission and throughout the Pittsburgh community. Thanks to the generosity of donors and business owners, we’re able to continue to provide during this time,” said Kelly Kepner, marketing and communications manager at Light of Life Rescue Mission.
“We’re so grateful to be a part of a community that cares for and loves one another,” Kepner said.
Ingram acknowledged how difficult it is to stay at home and not be able to help others in need.
“At Light of Life, they are working tirelessly to take care of our homeless neighbors and those who already find themselves in a vulnerable situation,” said Ingram. “This is the way I can give back to my community and spread hope.
The candle jar has simple heart original artwork intended to inspire and provide hope.
“This candle with a message of hope would be the perfect gift to send to a medical professional or someone on the front lines of this pandemic. It’s a small way to show them you love them and are thinking of them.”
The 8.5 oz candle has the scent of Cedarwood Vanilla and is specially infused with natural essential oils including cedar, moss, oak and vanilla.
Pittsburgh Candle Works candles are available online at www.pittsburghcandleworks.com with gift notes available.
Ingram takes pride in giving back to the Pittsburgh community. For every candle sale, Pittsburgh Candle Works donates $1 to the Light of Life Rescue Mission, a Christian nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides life-changing recovery programs, food and shelter for Pittsburgh’s poor and homeless.
“I think it’s important that as a business, we reinvest in and support our community,” said Ingram. “It’s a ‘rising tide raises all boats’ mentality. And our mission of creating warm atmospheres just went so well with the Light of Life’s mission.”
