This collection is inspired by you. I kept hearing your requests for a good vanilla candle, a good lavender scent, an everyday beach scent. So I took all your suggestions and created this collection.
When I think “classic,” I think “the best.” I used a team of scent testers to pick and choose the very best scents. Scents that you would want to burn in your home any time of year. Easy scents to give as gifts for any occasion.
I decided to go really minimal with the label on these – a simple pattern in a neutral color so that you can keep a candle on your nightstand, on your bathroom counter, or on your kitchen window sill. No matter where you like to use it – it goes.
The Classics Collection is a year-round collection full of scents that feel timeless, elegant, and… classic! These 5 scents are some of the most popular over my years of creating scents for homes. Whether you prefer floral, herbal, or fresh scents, there’s something here that can be a signature scent for your home. Let’s find your favorite.
People either love lavender or they hate it. I happen to love it. Is there anything more classic than delicate lavender? When I was first testing this candle, I wasn’t sure it was strong enough. It’s a very true-to-life lavender (none of that fake stuff here), so it’s lighter by nature. The scent testers loved it and didn’t want it any stronger – so it’s our lightest new scent. But beautiful, relaxing, and enjoyable.
Top Note (the first scent when you open the jar): Citrus, Bergamot
Middle Note (what you smell when the candle is burning): Lavender
Base Note (the scent that lingers in a room after burning): Camphor, Eucalyptus, Cedar
Overall, this candle smells like you picked a fresh stem of lavender from your garden. Pair this with our Vanilla candle and it’ll feel like you’ve created a spa-like environment in your home.
Sea Breeze reminds people of either cocktails, astringent, or clipping along the bay in a boat with the wind in your hair. This candle should hopefully remind you of the latter!
This is an everyday beach scent. When I was testing this scent, I kept walking through my kitchen wondering what smelled so good. I passed through a few times before I realized it was this beautiful candle, I’m excited to share it with you.
Top Note (the first scent when you open the jar): Ozone, Linen
Middle Note (what you smell when the candle is burning): Eucalyptus, Sea Salt, Freesia
Base Note (the scent that lingers in a room after burning): Moss, Powder
This is a light scent, and the fragrances are balanced and beautiful in this combination. I hope the clean, beachy scent brightens your day.
Vanilla is such a classic scent, of course I had to include it in the Classics Collection. But I added a Pittsburgh Candle Works twist so it isn’t just vanilla! This candle brings you familiar sweet vanilla scents, like buttercream and cake, but packs a sophisticated punch with bourbon and vanilla bean.
I tried to sneak some fancier vanilla elements into this candle during the creation process, but my scent testers wanted a classic vanilla. They kept asking, so I created this classic with the notes you know and love. Vanilla evokes the sense of comfort and home you expect from the best candles.
Top Note (the first scent when you open the jar): Buttercream
Middle Note (what you smell when the candle is burning): Vanilla, Cake
Base Note (the scent that lingers in a room after burning): Sugar, Bourbon
This medium-strength scent is sure to leave a lasting impression without smelling artificial or overdone. It brings the perfect balance of comfort and cozy that you’ll return to throughout the year. I recommend lighting it to read a book or sweeten an afternoon.
What is better than clean laundry? Not having to put it away! Okay, that’s a mom joke, but give me a break – I am a mom. And truly, what is better than that fresh, clean laundry feeling?
Laundry Day helps you skip to the very best part: when the laundry is done and put away, and your clothes just smell so good! We’ll leave ironing or steaming for another day…
Top Note (the first scent when you open the jar): Powder, Ozone
Middle Note (what you smell when the candle is burning): Cotton Blossom, Lily of the Valley
Base Note (the scent that lingers in a room after burning): Violet, Light Musk
If you’re like us at Pittsburgh Candle Works, laundry may not be your thing. Laundry Day might just be the boost you need. Light enough to start or end your day, this candle creates a fresh, crisp scent any time of year.
Sometimes citrus candles can be like Goldilocks finding her perfect bed and bowl of porridge. Some scents are too sweet, others are too manufactured and fake-smelling. Citrus Agave is just right.
Orange, lemon, tangerine, grapefruit… You name the citrus, it’s beautifully blended into this candle. To tame the scent, I incorporated jasmine, sea salt, and powder. It lightens the citrus without losing the impact. Citrus Agave smells like summertime freshness, but with a depth that shines all year long.
Top Note (the first scent when you open the jar): Lemon Peel, Orange Peel
Middle Note (what you smell when the candle is burning): Grapefruit, Mandarin, Sea Salt, Agave, Jasmine
Base Note (the scent that lingers in a room after burning): Sugar, Lime, Peach, Powder
One reviewer said this reminded her of Anthropologie’s signature scent, tangy but warm and deep. You’re sure to appreciate the balance this candle will bring to your home.
No matter where you are or what time of year it is, the Classics Collection will fill your home with scents that are warm, inviting, and remind you of fresh laundry folded on your bed, a spa day, baking, a perfect glass of lemonade, or the wind in your hair. They evoke feelings of contentment, comfort, and happiness – all things you want in your home.
With every candle purchased from our Classics Collection, $1 is donated to We Heart Lives organization in Smithfield, Rhode Island. You can read more about our partnership with them here.
